Sustainability reporting is a practice that allows organizations to measure, understand, and communicate their economic, environmental, and social impacts. It provides a framework for organizations to be transparent about their sustainability efforts and performance.
GRI Standards: The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards are the world’s most widely used standards for sustainability reporting. They enable organizations to report on their impacts in a consistent and credible way. The GRI Standards are designed to be applicable to organizations of any size, sector, or location, providing a common language for organizations to communicate their sustainability performance.
In Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan or OJK) issued POJK-51/2017, which regulates the implementation of sustainable finance for financial services institutions, issuers, and public companies. This regulation mandates the submission of sustainability reports, the implementation of sustainable finance principles, and the development of a sustainable finance action plan.
Sustainability reporting, guided by GRI Standards and POJK-51/2017 or by any other reporting standards or framework, helps organizations demonstrate their commitment to sustainable development, enhance transparency, and build trust with stakeholders. By adopting these standards and regulations, organizations can contribute to a more sustainable and equitable future.
